Principles & Objectives

The mission of the National Network of Youth Ministries.

The National Network of Youth Ministries links youth workers for encouragement, spiritual growth, and sharing resources, in order to expose every teenager to the gospel of Jesus Christ, establish those who respond in a local church, and disciple them to help reach the world.

These covenant bonds are agreed to by each member of the Network.

"Constrained by the love of Christ," motivated by a love for young people, and empowered by the indwelling Holy Spirit, I hereby enter into a covenant with God and with my co-laborers in youth ministry. I claim by faith that my life will be characterized by:

PERSONAL HOLINESS before God and others, which is established in Christ and expressed in daily life through prayer and commitment to the Word of God.

AN EXEMPLARY HOME LIFE that is a source of renewal for me and my family, and a godly model for others to follow.

A LIFE OF DISCIPLESHIP which is reproducing an on-going chain of maturing believers.

INVOLVEMENT IN EVANGELISM which helps expose every teenager to the gospel in a personal and culturally relevant way.

A WILLINGNESS TO MINISTER TO YOUTH FOR A LIFETIME, should God so direct.

A MINISTRY WHICH BECOMES A RESOURCE to other churches and organizations, cooperating for greater effectiveness in ministering to teenagers.

These core values serve as the guidelines for the work of the Network.

EVERY CULTURE.
Youth ministry must be oriented to the students' world: the campus, home, church and community.
By staying ethnically and culturally relevant, we can better discern their real needs, address current issues, and develop a relationally effective ministry to both believers and non-believers.

INTENTIONAL EVANGELISM.
We are intentional in evangelism.
Based on sensitivity to the Holy Spirit's leading, we reach out to students, sharing Christ in a loving, relational manner.

GOSPEL SATURATION.
Building the Kingdom of God mandates saturation of the world with the gospel.
Therefore, we seek to develop and implement strategies to help reach every adolescent in every community.

LOCAL CHURCH.
The church is God's primary agency for building His Kingdom.
We actively commit ourselves to faithful involvement in the local church as a model and encouragement for students to do the same.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP.
Preparing students for leadership and influence is a priority.
Because youth are so greatly influenced by their peers, we believe we must develop and train them in order to reach the maximum number of students, most effectively.

SPIRITUAL MULTIPLICATION.
Spiritual multiplication is the biblical pattern for fulfilling the Great Commission.
Therefore, we seek to develop fully devoted followers of Christ who will do the same with others.

SPIRIT-EMPOWERMENT.
Walking in the power of the Holy Spirit is imperative for effective Kingdom living.
Therefore, we continually emphasize the essentials of living empowered by the Holy Spirit.

STRATEGIC PLANNING.
Youth ministry must accomplish long-range biblical goals.
Therefore, to sustain an intentional, long-term ministry to youth and youth workers we seek to avoid superficial programs that are ends in themselves.
