Junior High Conferences - Feedback

Thad DeBuhr 12/17/2007 Just wondering which conferences folks have taken junior highers to and what your experience was? We have taken students to ATF in Seattle and overall the kids really enjoyed it, but honeslty the programming was a little over their heads. Has anyone been to Generation Unleashed with Junior Highers? Thanks- look forward to some feedback

Chris Boyd 03/14/2008 I too have taken Jr High to ATF and Battle Cry stadium events. I saw the students respond in a powerful way. One thing that helped was prior preparation and parental support and attendance. The ATF event does address issues that some young Jr. High may not understand. I found out that parental involvement made a significant difference before, during, and after the event and really helped reinforce the commitments made at the event. Another worthy event is the Josh McDowell tour http://www.beyondbelief.com/events.spl My advice for any event is be very careful that yourself or your leaders do not underestimate the cognitive and relatability of Jr. High students. Sometimes, leaders mistakenly miss out of training materials and events because they think Jr. Highers "might not get it". I hope this helps!

Nadine Francis 03/14/2008 We also take our youth (middle & high school) to Planet Wisdom every year. Our church has been going to this conference for ten years now. It's been the greatest thing for our kids. Mark has an awesome way of reaching everyone, the young ones and the older ones, even the adults!
